Where We've Been —And Where We're Going
Our Thoughts About The Trips
The immersion experience is an integral part of our students' training as journalists and critical thinkers. Doing it abroad is being true to our name and mission as the School of Global Journalism and Communication.Jackie Jones, Chair, Department of Multimedia Journalism
Working with the students was interesting because we were dealing with a situation where they had not been out in the field prior to this, nor had they been out of the country.Dr. Fredric Kendrick, Department of Multimedia Journalism
It was incredibly moving to see these students hit the ground running, pulling out their pens and pads and video cameras within a half hour of setting foot on Selma's Edmund Pettus Bridge where protesters were gathering; truly curious and engaged as they spent a week doing what they kept calling "real reporting" on "real issues." It was transformative for many of them.Karen Houppert, Assistant Professor, Department of Multimedia Journalism
