Havana, Cuba! —Jun.2016 June 4, 2016
The Morgan State University SGJC Global Reporting Project Team members are in CUBA to explore the archipelago’s African roots and African-American links; additionally, students are serving as participant and practitioner in the production of a documentary. The documentary is a joint effort between SGJC students and students from the Facultad de Comunicación at the University of Havana.
SGJC Global Reporting Project students in Havana are Kendra Hawkins, Katia Jordan, Devonte King, and Duane Saunders, Jr. investigating, writing, and preparing multimedia packages across media platforms, in addition to producing the documentary.
Also in Havana with the SGJC Global Reporting Project are Jacqueline Jones, Chair, Department of Multimedia Journalism; Dr. Stacey Patton, Assistant Professor and Editor, Morgan State Global Journalism Review, Department of Multimedia Journalism; Dr. Fredric Kendrick, Assistant Professor, Department of Multimedia Journalism; and Derrick Cheston, Photojournalist, NBC 10 Philadelphia.
Additional Morganites accompanying the SGJC GRT are Dr. Antoinette Coleman, Assistant Vice President Academic Affairs at Morgan State University; Dr. Kim Sydnor, Dean of the School of Community Health and Policy at Morgan State University; and Dr. Alvin Kennedy, Interim Dean of the School of Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences (SCMNS) at Morgan State University.
